What makes this trip special is the convenience of staying both nights at the same campsite. This means less packing and unpacking, giving you more time to enjoy the river and the extras provided at camp (camp activities vary based on which beach we are able set up at). Whether you’re splashing in the water, competing in a game of volleyball, or simply relaxing by the rive; there’s something for everyone.
This adventure features 35-miles of thrilling whitewater paired with calm sections that allow for opportunities to swim or relax on the river. Each day also includes a stop at a sandy beach for lunch. Back at camp, you can expect delicious meals prepared by your guides and stargazing at night.
The Riverside Whitewater Adventure Base Camp trip starts with a convenient late afternoon meet-up, making it easier for travelers to arrive and giving plenty of time to settle in and start your adventure by enjoying some of our camp extras or spending time in the water. The next two days are spent enjoying full days on the river. For groups that are interested, we can assist with an extra night of camping.

Trip Schedule: Start your trip by meeting us at Riggins City Park around 4 pm MST. Time of arrival may vary by group
depending on how much time you would like to spend at camp on the first day. (Note the time difference between PST and MST).
We then head upriver to camp, which is already set up, so you can settle in and start your adventure by enjoying some of our camp extras or spending time in the water.
Later that evening you’ll be served dinner prepared by our awesome guides.
The next morning after breakfast we head upriver for your first full day of rafting. Once on the water you can expect thrilling whitewater, swim time, boat games, lunch, and awesome scenery.
We typically arrive back at camp around 4 pm where you can enjoy more of the activities there.
The following day we encourage everyone to have their things packed up before we pick up right where we left off with another full day on the river.
We try to be off the water and back to camp by 5 pm, and from there you can load up and head home. (If your group would rather leave the following morning, we can usually offer some assistance with another night of camping, but this needs to be arranged beforehand)
Pro Tips: Bring a personal water bottle. We want everyone to stay hydrated and healthy. If we are providing lunch, we will have bottled water, but help us reduce waste by bringing your own water bottle. We bring lots of extra water so you can have plenty of refills.
Avoid bringing valuables or jewelry. We recommend retention straps on sunglasses and hats. Outdoor Voyagers is not responsible for lost or damage personal items.
Pack Light. Space is limited. We provide dry bags to access anything you might need during the day.
Check the weather forecast before your trip. We continue floating even in the rain. A rain jacket and/or cold weather ear can make things more comfortable.
What to wear: Swimsuits can be great. Quick drying shorts and SPF rated shirts can help with comfort and provide additional sun protection. Try to avoid cotton fabrics.

In our opinion, this is the best stretch of river in Idaho for one, two, or three-day whitewater rafting trips.
The pool and drop typology of the river provides plenty of terrific rapids coupled with peaceful pools and sandy beaches.
Rapid classifications change during the season according to the river's volume. This section of the Salmon River generally contains class II, III, and IV rapids.
Safety is our top priority, and if river conditions present too great a risk, we may make certain adjustments to the float in order to mitigate that risk.
We use a combination of paddle and oar boats on all our trips.
Paddle rafts require a minimum of six guests who are ready and willing to paddle. Paddle rafts are great because they allow more people to be involved and create a real immersive experience for participants.
Oar boats allow the guide to maneuver a smaller group of guests along with any gear needed down the river. While it is not required, having 2-4 paddlers in the oar boats is always appreciated.
Additionally, we do have a small number of single and tandem inflatable kayaks available upon request
Along with being personable and professional, all our guides have the experience and preparation needed to safely guide you down the river. Each guide completes a thorough, training program that includes river safety, rescue & first aid, guest care, and company-specific standards—going well beyond the state licensing requirements.
Our guides are genuinely passionate about the river and excited to share that experience with you.
If you’d like to get to know some of them beforehand, visit our Team page.
As with any service industry, tips for great service are appropriate and appreciated.
