Youth River Skills Adventure on the Salmon River

A youth-centered and hands-on multi-day experience for ages 12–17 focused on river skills, safety, and teamwork under professional guidance. All youth participants must be accompanied by a designated adult.

About This Program

This isn't just a ride down the river — participants actively learn how the river works. Skills covered include rowing and paddling techniques, river safety and awareness, navigating and reading the water, Dutch Oven cooking, teamwork and communication, and basic rescue awareness and drills.

Days are active, engaging, and hands-on. Participants rotate through roles including paddling, scouting, and even taking turns captaining the raft under guide supervision. There's also time for swimming, river games, camp cooking, and group activities.

Safety is built into every part of this adventure. All participants receive a full safety briefing before floating on the water. Licensed guides supervise all on-river activities. Safety gear is provided and required at all times. Activities are adjusted based on river conditions and group ability.
